Why do you want Valiant Design on your team?

There are many types of designers, but not all of them are an appropriate choice for new construction or large scale remodels. Below are some of the services you can count on from Valiant Design, LLC.

Floor Plan Creation & Editing

So often oversights occur during this crucial stage in the project. Costly corrections or regrets later down the line can be avoided by taking a closer look at the desired outcome and doing some advanced planning now. During the planning phases, we will walk through the plan and scale out every space on paper to include the furniture and décor keeping the end goal in mind to achieve the function and purpose of each room.

Age in Place Design

While we may not like it, many of us at some point will require a wheelchair or mobility aid device that will require wider walkways, doors, less steps, sharp rotations and attention to finish material attributes. This can happen in old age due to frailty or in young age due to an accident or health related surgery or illness. These same components are taken into consideration for infants, toddlers, or individuals with developmental disabilities. With a few easy considerations, your home can be designed to accommodate these needs for all ages and abilities.

Curb Appeal and Elevation Design

Curb Appeal is a layered process. It starts with the floor plan and footprint. Then varied heights, angles, textures, colors, lighting, hardscape, and green landscape are layered into the design. The result is a home that you and your guests fall in love with regardless of size or value. This process begins at the onset of the project and runs through until the final touches are completed and your keys are in hand. This is a service Valiant Design takes special pride in. Without thoughtful coordination, even the most expensive and large homes can fall flat.

Kitchen Layouts and Design

Such a personal space cannot be prescribed for the masses. Much of the coordination within the kitchen is to ensure the function is on point for the user. When working with Valiant Design, all of the following points are considered:

  •  Menus - so that the right appliances, tools, workspaces, and storage is all within reach and specific to your culinary style.
  • Flow - we discuss how you move in the kitchen, how many bodies to plan for, accommodating heights, access points and comfort.
  • Aesthetics – to capture your vision by blending utility and style into the heart of the home.

Surface Material Selections

Not all products are created equal, nor are they best for every project. With over 15 years’ experience designing and building custom homes, Valiant Design is not only well versed in material options, but can speak to application histories and issues that may arise in one product over another. Additionally, this vast knowledge of materials allows Valiant Design to pull from a plethora of sources for your material selection. A design that is too uniform feels sterile or dull. Your entire home should flow from one room to another while still having different moods, materials, functions, and colors.  The right blend and variation from space to space will elevate the experience of you and your guests for years to come.

Color and Texture Consultations

Color and texture need to be layered in a home as it moves and transitions from space to space. Selecting the right paint color ideally is done with the countertops, masonry, sofa, pillows, or bedding fabric in hand. Valiant Design has hundreds of fabrics on hand from custom upholstery lines and access to a world's worth more. During the course of your project, all physical material samples for each space are gathered and organized so you can easily see the flow of each finish, texture, and color to ensure it is coordinated beautifully and illustrates the mood intended for each room.

Furniture and Décor Selection

Valiant Design has traveled to High Point Market (the largest furnishings trade show in the world currently) as well as local shows with quick-ship availability in the western US to develop vendor relationships with furniture, art, and décor lines from all over the world. By developing personal relationships with our vendors we are able to pass the benefits of such connections onto you, our client. This means deep discounts on quality products and custom furniture lines (tens of thousands of dollars of savings on something like motorized theater seating for example). Additionally, if there is ever a product you just must have that is not in our current circle, we make every effort to use our connections to ensure you get the best deal. The designer world is your oyster.

Product Ordering, Tracking and Storage

Our support team, design software, and product logs are essential to making this process a seamless one. Stephenie Monson, Owner & Designer

Valiant Design is a locally owned and operated by Stephenie Monson. As a retired builder/general contractor, she goes beyond what most designers can. Not only does she see the final layer of design, she understands the method and knows the importance of planning and communication with all related trades to achieve the desired result.

When asking Stephenie how she works with her clients, she relayed this story…

Just this week, I had casually mentioned to a client that I am ‘anal’ over the details. He laughed. Not just a small chuckle, rather a belly laugh that seemed to last forever. So, naturally, I asked why he was laughing so hard. His response, “Yes, I would say you are a little ‘anal’ about the details. I like that in some people, and you are one of them.”

You need some back story now, huh? See, this was a gentleman that was building his own home and hired me as a designer. We had just gone over the house plans that he had drawn up with another firm. During this process, I ‘walk’ through the plan in my mind. I am looking for flow issues, I am looking for corners where the trim may be cut short, I am looking for natural tile/carpet lines. I am looking for whether or not your nightstands will fit next to the bed. I am looking at what you will see when you walk into a room…is it functional? Is it balanced? Is it attractive?
